一、英国中学的类别

男女分校是英国的历史传统，因此私立学校有男校、女校、男女混合学校三种类别。许多英国家长和教育工作者认为，西方男孩子的文化是竞争文化，而女孩子的文化是合作文化，男女生分开学习则可以使双方都发挥各自优势，教师也能因材施教，给孩子更多适合的成长空间（当然现在情况发生很大变化)。有些中国家长怕孩子早恋，不能集中心思学习，男女分校正符合这类家长的需求。如果家长选择某一性别的学校时，就要在排行榜上剔除另一性别的学校和混合学校，选择混合学校也是同样的方法，剔除男校和女校，再在同类型的学校中作一个比较。
